The Winter Roundup had the largest crowd than ever before. The weather played an important part in our attendance and the sunshine at the Mother Lode ranch was welcomed by everyone.
Dinner was served by Blodgett catering. BBQ ribs and chicken with beans, salad and rolls were the center of attention after 5pm. Of course Dave had his plan of offering our guest the rights to be first to enter the food line with members following shortly after. The board of directors graciously ate last.
We started the program with introductions of the new prospective board as they spoke of their love for the Mid Valley endeavors. There were 9 people running for a seven member election. Ballots were passed out and the counting began while the rest of the program went on.
143 members and guest came and enjoyed our program. We had a running video of many of our events throughout the year as well as videos from the interscholastic team that competed at Bishop. Three of our four team members spoke of their experiences from the practicing stages to the finals at Bishop.
We followed that with a few poems read by our very own creator of the Mid Valley logo Sharon Power. The poems were very well written and the silence in the room reinforced the respect that Sharon deserves. Thank you Sharon.
The new directors were announced and the music started with Lance Kell as our DJ. Fun was had by all dancing until 11pm. Then the job began. Cleanup!
This type of event would have been impossible to accomplish without the tremendous amount of help from these volunteering people: Dave Rumsey and his family Kaitlynn, Michaela and Kaycee, My wife Julie Perry, Julia Heller, Jean White, Jerrie Ann Thomas, Larry Sousa, Vicki Morales, John Marshall, and Doug and Kathy Dollarhide. There were many more helpers along the way to give us support and to make the Winter Roundup a success. Special thanks to Don and Laurel Rumsey for inviting us to their home for such a great event. See you next year.
