Re-Horse Day

by Kathy Zumbrunn

Saturday, May 5, was a cool and windy day, but that didn’t stop Vicki Whisler, Vicki Morales, Dan Prine and me from representing Mid Valley Unit at the Horse Extravaganza fundraiser for ReHorse Rescue. Vicki and Vicki were there to do the Dutch oven demonstration, Dan Prine brought his horse and did a packing demonstration, and I set up a booth to let the folks know who Backcountry Horsemen are and what we do. I also had our Lucky Calendars there.

The vendor booths were set up between two buildings, which formed a fine wind tunnel and created quite a challenge to keep all my paperwork and story boards on the tables!

All in all it turned out to be a very successful day for everyone. We sold 12 "Lucky" calendars and possibly found a few new members. Vicki and Vicki’s Dutch oven demonstration was well received and Dan Prine had many compliments on his packing demonstration. We were all wind blown and tired by the end of the day, but I think we all had a great time.
