The Gentle Use camp
Calaveras Mule Packers Challenge

The Calaveras Mule Packers Challenge was held October 24th and 25th
at the fairgrounds in Angels Camp, California.
Saturday morning Dave Moser, Kathy Zumbrunn and myself met and
traveled to Angels Camp to set up a `gentle use display'. Arriving at
about 7:45 we made quick work of getting unloaded and constructing our
outdoor booth. Dave brought up "Sparky" the iron mule and a lot of good
items for a gentle use display. We also brought up tickets and a
display board of the 4-wheeler quad that Mid Valley is raffling off.
Kathy brought along the storyboard that she made up showing, in
pictures, a recent Mid Valley event.
During the day while the various events were going on, several
people stopped by to look at the display and to visit a bit. Among the
Mid Valley members checking in were: Eddie Costa, Yvonne Lara, Dave and
Darla Coehlo, Terry and Angela Johnson, John and Helen Thomas, Ric and Dee
Richina, Ron and Debbie Dufour and Dennis Serpa.
I was not able to participate last year, thus I had did not have an
idea of the comparative attendance. However those that were in the
know said that the attendance was very good.
At the end of the day we broke down our display and headed down the
hill towards home, all in all a successful day.
